Masali Baduza, a South African actress, beat stiff competition to win the role of Sephy in the BBC and Netflix adaptation of Malorie Blackman’s Noughts and Crosses.

Despite being a New York Film Academy alumni, Baduza is also an accomplished theatre actress and has starred in several productions with The Furies – a collective focusing on creating opportunities for marginalised women. Currently filming alongside Jack Rowan, Paterson Joseph and Helen Baxendale, Baduza’s role in the anticipated dystopian series is set to see her become a household name.
